Generating Live BOM in OrCAD X Capture CIS

DesignTech

Bill of Materials (BOM) refers to a report that lists the components present in the design. Live BOM is a dynamic BOM that is generated using supply chain data from SourceEngine. Live BOM represents an always up-to-date view of the design BOM with zero configuration.

You can access this from Tools > Live BOM.

Hope you find this feature interesting to use.

The design (filename.dsn) MUST be in the workspace for LiveBOM to be active. Copy the dsn file to %HOME%\cdssetup\workspace\projects\projectname folder, then open in OrCAD X Capture and save the design then you can run LiveBOM. If you want CIP data to be used you need to modify your filename.dbc file and change the mapping for all the tables you use. Change Manufacturer to Manufacturer Name and Manufacturer PN to Manufacturer Part Number. These will then be used by LiveBOM.
