OrCAD 17.4 CIS backannotate pin swap

Our design flow updated to OrCAD Capture 17.4 from 17.2.  We use PADS for our PCB layout.  I use a contractor for our digital routing and he has never had a problem doing FPGA pin swapping back to OrCAD.  However in 17.4 he can't find the Backannotate dialog boxes Layout tab.  This is where one used to specify the swap file and the scope of the backannotation.  This dialog box Layout tab is gone in version 17.4.

How does one do a pin swap / netlist backannotation in version 17.4?

Thanks Robert.  So they just stopped supporting an important function?  Is there no way to do this basic task in 17.4 anymore?

I'm scared to update to 22.1.  The jump to 17.4 from 17.2 was traumatic for us.  What else will stop working or becomes more difficult?  Is 22.1 as full of bloatware as 17.4?

I'm sorry to hear that.  17.2 to 17.4 transitioned to a full 32-bit app refresh (much faster).  My issues have been resolved.  Currently using Capture 22.1.

Bloatware...  Tools without licenses?  Well, the install for 23.1 is smaller/faster.  But, they still install the full SPB suite.

We installed 22.1 onto a test computer to just do backannotation.  The install went fine.  But where is the backannotation?  The menu looks like 17.4, which removed this feature.

Back annotation changed in 17.4(maybe 17.2) that removes third party support.

To translate back to P*DS, I keep 16.6 running.  That would be a safe choice to deploy on the same machine to run back annotation.  I did lose my save of that install due to a hard drive corruption two years ago.  Tech support made it available from a cloud drive with the latest SP.

Fair warning.  Both of our options will shrink dramatically when our IT department pushes Windows 11 on PCs.  Tools including P*DS Vx2p5 will no longer work.   Time to switch to Orcad.
