Creating a BOM using CIS BOM from someone elses design file will not work. OK or a bug?

Forum,

Using Capture CIS, V23.1

Working as a consultant, I work with external customers .DSN-files sent to me as a part of a board modifications.

The customers uses CIS, but I have not access to their databases. Instead, I add the different properties manually as part of the assignment.

This is eg. MFR part number, Distributor order number, etc.

The CIS BillOfMaterials correctly lists available properties for BOM output selection but when I try this, it will not work. Any BOM

created this way does not contain the manually added properties. They appear as available in the properties

selection field and double clicking on each one moves them --> into the selected properties for BOM output.

The solution so far has been to use the standard BOM utility, adding header and column items manually by creating a .TXT file with all entries

as well as \t {...} etc. ("Somewhat" tedious...)

Then deleting the header and the data text string when invoking the BOM utility and then pasting my newly created strings into it.

Is the CIS BOM not supposed to work with "disconnected" .DSN-files?  Does CIS-BOM requires a connection to a local database or is there a setting somewhere

that will allow the CIS BOM to be generated from a "disconnected" .DSN-file ?

Properties which are manually added on schematic components, can be added under Report Properties in Select properties section manually on top and then can be added in Output format.

For ex: I added manually test named property with value cad123 and I can add it in Select properties section as shown below:

Now if I click on OK, it adds this property in Standard CIS BOM:

Let me know if it helps.

    It worked.

Tried this before but obviously did something wrong. Even better: The properties added this way stays with the design. No need to repeat the selected properties once they have been set.
