CIS Explorer windows layout and footprint view

Fredda

In the CIS Explorer window you can rearrange the Explorer, Part and Visibility windows, but as soon as you close CIS Explorer your custom window layout is lost. How do can I save the window layout so that it appears the next time I open CIS Explorer?

And why is the footprint view missing? In the View menu there's a Footprint entry, but that doesn't do anything.

The issue regarding CIS Explorer does not store window sizes is already known to us and a CCR has been placed.
Regarding Footprint View missing from CIS Explorer, try re-configuring the CIS ODBC Configuration.
In order to reconfigure the database, you could refer following link of article from Cadence online support portal:
Article (11736152) Title: How to configure an MS-Access or MS-excel database with Capture CIS
    URL: support.cadence.com/.../ArticleAttachmentPortal

Let me know how it goes for you. After referring this article, are you able to resolve your issue regarding Footprint View missing?

Thanks. The Footprint View is working fine in 17.4. I will try to reconfigure the data base to see if I can get it working in 23.1 as well.

I use Capture-X CIS together with a dabase created and used with Microsoft Access (.MDB) configured via ODBC, 64 bits. and W10.

Upgrading from 17.2 to 17.4 to 22.1 and then to 23.1 and having to update the symbols library, I discovered that after having done that, the footprint view in 23.1 was gone. The solution provided by signature "Steve" was to downrev the symbols to 22.1 in order to make the foot print view work. The utility used was "qvupdate.exe", this executable is found in the \tools\bin folder in 22.1 version. After having done the downrev, the footprint view worked again.

Having the 22.1 version still installed, I use that version for the creation of pad stacks and foot prints (.DRA, .PSM) This is a work-around until the bug has been fixed in 23.1.

This still appears to be an issue with 24.1, very frustrating! I've given up on getting the footprint preview in CIS explorer to work. There's a lot I like about OrCAD but when I set something up only to have part of it not work at all because of the software is very frustrating.
