23.1 CaptureCIS Product Choices

What is the difference between these two:

One thing I've noticed is that when choosing "Allegro PCB Design CIS L" I have the option to "View Database Part...":

When choosing "Allegro X Designer" that right button click menu entry is grayed out and thus not available.

I tested this scenario at my end and below are my findings >

On selecting the License as Allegro PCB Design CIS L I have the option to View Database Part for all components.

On selecting Allegro X Designer License View Database component is greyed out for the components which are placed from the libraries.

When I placed component from Component Explorer I have the option to see View Database Component.

Let me know if you are also seeing the same thing at your end.

With Allegro X Designer License, View Database component is greyed out even for components placed from Component Explorer (PSpice).

Anyhow, not to get stuck in specific details, I´m mainly interested in knowing why there are two license options that seem to be more or less the same except from some greyed out options. Where can I get information about this?

I suspect that the CIS issue may be related to the exact version running. 23.1.s004 seems to understand both licenses and enables CIS with Capture for both. There are some additional capabilities enabled with 23.1 and the X licenses. The "non-X" licenses exist because previous versions don't know what an X license is and there could be reasons to want to run those versions. Check the Cadence Support site for more details of the X functionality.
