What is the difference between the Check missing / illegal PCB footprint property and Check PCB footprint in configured path

Hai Community,

In the Capture schematic, Design Rule Check >> Rules Setup >> Physical Rules.

I can see Check missing / illegal PCB footprint property under Batch and Check PCB footprint in configured path under Online.

As per my understanding that batch is normal DRC run, correct me if I am wrong about it.

Can I know what is the difference between the Check missing / illegal PCB footprint property and Check PCB footprint in configured path.

Regards,

Rohit Rohan

Check missing/illegal PCB footprint property: If PCB Footprint value is missing from any instance on the design or if it is there but illegal (not valid) characters are there in PCB Footprint value, then it will show DRC for those instances.

Check PCB Footprint in configured path: If legitimate value of PCB Footprint property is defined for any instance but footprint files are not present in configured psm and pad paths, then it will show online DRC warning ORCAP-2434. At the time of netrev (updating/creating board, it will not be able to see footprint if foorptint files are not present in psm and pad paths.)

You can see details about this warning with following link:

    Article (20490897)
Title: WARNING(ORCAP-2434): Footprint 'smdcap' specified for instance C* is missing. Ensure 'smdcap' is in library path.
