How to perform the CIS client configuration, OrCAD Capture CIS

Hai Community,

Below are the steps that I perform to configure the CIS server configuration. (Correct me if I am wrong)

Step 1: ODBC configuration

Go to ODBC Dara Source Administrator.

Select System DSN

Step 2: DBC creation

Create System DSN, Data Source (I usually prefer the Excel based and the Excel is saved in the .xlsx format)

Then in the Capture CIS tool, I go to Options >> CIS Configuration >> New.

Select the Database name >> Configure the table names >> Configure additional details >> Save the DBC file.

Once the DBC file is save, then we can go to Place Database Part and place the schematic symbol from the CIS database.

Above are the steps that I do in the server PC for CIS database setup and configuration, also since I have installed the OrCAD software in the Server PC, I am able to browse the DBC file and place the components on the schematic page in the Server PC for testing if the DBC file is properly configured.

But when if comes to the client PC, that is where that I am confused.

Can anyone help me with the CIS client PC configuration.

I want the access the database CIS libraries in the client PC.

I am using the Version 23.1 with the latest hotfix S006

Regards,

Rohit Rohan

As seen the excel database file was not created correctly, and was not mapped correctly in Capture CIS. After creating the excel file and mapping correctly you were able to perform the CIS Client Configuration.
