STEP-file linking and dumping?

Ulf K

Forum,

I am frequently given the task to create footprints when working with customers projects.

After creating of the footprint, if available, I download a matching STEP-file, link it to the newly created footprint, place this footprint when working with the layout and checks the final result in the 3D viewer.

In many cases, after submitting the gerbers and the .BRD-file, my customers exports the footprints and adds them to their own libraries after verification.

But - It seems that there is no simple way to include the STEP-model files for later library export.

Is there any simple way to automatically include the STEP-files when submitting the :BRD-file to the customer

and to make these files exportable together with the .DRA, PSM, and .PAD files when the customer opens the

.BRD file in his environment?

There isn't a default way yet but I have included a skill command that will dump the step models used in a board file into a directory of your choice - which should help.ns_step_dump.zip
