Dynamically update/reload the CIS Configuration in a running OrCAD Instance

Hello,

is there any possibility through the TCL Api to refresh and reload a CIS DBC configuration during the runtime of OrCAD?

Our application is able to dynamically update the used CIS DB (table layout as well as the column layout) and the related DBC file.
This can happen during the runtime of OrCAD and we have not been able to find any API functions to 'switch' the dbc Config.

So what we would be able to do is the following:

#1: Start with a DBC Config #1 which is used by the engineer
#2: dynamically add tables to the CIS DB (we can do that already through our native code) and then add the corresponding entries into the DBC file (we can do that already through our native code)
#3: reload the DBC Config, so that the user can see all the new changes when he opens CIS Explorer

we do NOT want to restart OrCAD for every modification we do, as this would be very annoying for our users.

Any ways to achieve this?

btw. I played around with the API functions available in the CPMgtCfg such as ReadDBC, Initialize, etc. but no luck so far (and the documentation is little bit poor and does not really tell what the method does ;))

Thanks

Patrick

From what I’ve seen, the TCL API doesn’t expose a direct “refresh” for CIS DBC on the fly — most folks end up restarting Capture to pick up changes. Curious if anyone here has found a creative workaround to avoid that?
