Orcad capture 22 title block auto population

MR20250829531
MR20250829531 11 days ago

Hello Forum,

Im trying to have my title block auto populate things like the Title  from the schematic page name, and the document number from the project name like 123.dsn.  I am not having any luck getting anything to auto populate.  I have been using things like $PROJECT, $PAGENAME, with and with out <> or {} and saving, loading and annotating the project with no success.  First of all in this version of capture is this even possible?  If yes is there any info around on how to do it?

Thank you

Matt

You can auto-fill some fields in the title block (like $PAGENAME, $SHEET, $DATE etc.), but Capture won’t pull the .dsn file name directly. For things like a document number, the workaround is to add it once in Design Properties (e.g., DOC_NUM=123) and then call it in the title block as $DOC_NUM. Works like a charm after that!

    Hello MR20250829531,

    Thank you for the response.

Im having a little trouble with the design properties suggestion.  Its like nothing I try actually updates the title block.  Do I have to annotate to get the titleblock to update?

I want to make sure Im putting the DOC_NUM=123 in the correct location.  You said to place it in the design properties.  So I right click on the .dsn file to get this design properties window.  (For some reason I am unable to upload the image)  But with in there there are 3 tabs General, Schematic Design, and Project. All of them have very limited access to any place to add things like DOC_NUM=123.   If after right clicking I go to edit object properties I can get to a place where I can for each part in the design I can add a property for all of them and add in the DOC_NUM=123.  This however does not seem to help in the title block when I place a $DOC_NUM, either as a property in the title block or a changeable variable in one of the title block fields.

As a plan B Im also trying to look at a tcl script to maybe do the same thing though that has a little more aggressive learning curve.

Any more suggestion here would be great.  Thank you again for responding.
