Schematic variant to replace an 0402 capacitor to an 0402 resistor

Is it possible to have an BOM Variant where 0402 capacitor can be replaced with an 0402 resistor? I tried it in Part Manager but I am getting this error. Is there a way to go around this? I need a capacitor to be a 0hms instead.

You need to modify the database to have a "common" Schematic Part and then you can switch the symbols around. The default multi-value delimiter is comma. Create a "common" part that will never be used, like rlc_dummy. Change the parts that you want to swap to have a Schematic Part value of say "capacitor,rlc_dummy" for the caps and "resistor, rlc_dummy" for the resistors. Then you can change the selected Schematic Part to rlc_dummy in the CIS Explorer part browser, which is also common to the caps, so then you can link to another Database Part that is the cap and then change the linked Schematic Part to Capacitor. Slight faff but this allows discretes to be swapped around, often a need for RF related designs.
