OrCAD X Capture 25.1 – PDF Export in Variant Mode Produces Extra Pages and Error Message

Hello everyone,

I’m currently using OrCAD X Capture 25.1, and I’m running into an issue when exporting a variant schematic to PDF. Every time I generate a PDF from a variant view, the output includes two extra pages, and one of those pages contains an error message that looks like below. 

The actual error is captured as shown: 
" ERROR: syntaxerror

This only happens in variant as exporting the main schematic works normally with no extra pages or errors.

Has anyone seen this behavior before or know what might be causing it?

    This issue is reported in our Cadence Database via a CCR.

    Also, which hotfix of Version 25.1 you are using ? ( You can check hotfix by Help > About after invoking OrCAD Capture)

    Got the same on 24.1s008.

    Our support says it is fixed in upcoming update.

    I also heard this affects 23.1 too

    Im using the 25.01 S020.  

    Is there a fix for this issue yet?

    Did you try ensuring that there are NO SPACES in the entire directory path of the OrCAD project and PDF file location? Ghostscript is known to puke on directory spaces for some stupid reason. Not sure if this is the same issue as yours.

    Is there any fix yet? I am using 25.1 S020 . Still has the same issue. but interestingly it works well with 17.2. So something is broken here in new releases. 

    - I dont have spaces in names

    - I tried putting short output path for DSN and pdf export ( like C:\Test\)

    Nothing seem to solve this.
