Tip on skill (axl) functions

Hi,

I often see questions regarding skill functions in this forum and would like to direct you all to 2 very good sources available when you've installed the tools.

  1. $install_dirc\share\pcb\examples\skill\DOC\FUNCS contain a .txt file for each axl command that you can use in skill code. If you open the text file it will give you a description of the function and typically also an example or 2 of how to use it
  2. Inside the PCB Editor you can do
    1. Help, Documentation and when the online documentation occur
    2. Select Allegro PCB Editor User Guide
    3. Select Book Ten Skill Reference
    4. In this you also have the skill commands and they're sorted by function type (select and find, database read, UI functions etc.)

There is one drawback of number 2, sometimes it is not completely up-to-date with respect to the new stuff in a new release the first couple of months.

If you're pretty much into skill already it is worth when receiving a new release to take a look at the directory $install_dirc\share\pcb\examples\skill\DOC which contains a file describing all the new routines in a release

So for SPB 16.2 you would look at C:\Cadence\SPB_16.2\share\pcb\examples\skill\DOC\New16.1to16.2.txt

The same directory also holds a file that describes what skill commands have undergone changes since the last release.

So again for SPB 16.2 you would look at C:\Cadence\SPB_16.2\share\pcb\examples\skill\DOC\Changes16.1to16.2.txt

It is well worth the while to take a look at the files and directories (or online documentation) mentioned here to get faster up to speed.

 Have fun.

Is there any chance to convert 16 version board file to 15 version using some skill technique?

    Thanks,

    Satya

Not sure how your question relates to this topic, but reading that material Ole mentioned would be a good start to finding an answer.

    Good Luck,
