dbid's go stale on Allegro redraw

In Allegro (APD), I have code with numerous lists that are built up of various database objects.  Some lists are easily rebuilt since they are queries of objects that are more or less pervasive in the design.  E.g.   myCompList = axlDBGetDesign()->components

However, some are on objects that are created during run of the code.  E.g.  a loop that creates numerous rectangles using "axlDBCreateRectangle."

The problem however is that any time the user interacts with the design window in any way, even to redraw or zoom, all the dbid's in all the lists go stale so the lists simply become lists of "dbid:removed" objects.

Does anyone know of a way to keep the lists from going stale??

Thanks!

Rick S

Someone sent a suggestion to disable the application mode, essentially set the UI environment back to a pre-16x state.  This is done using:

    axlShell("noappmode")
