Using previously selected objects in skill

I hope this is possible. I would like to select some vias ( or other objects) first, and then run a skill program that goes through the selection set and extracts xy locations, properties, etc.

The problem is that as soon as the program is run, everything is deselected.

Can anybody help?

Ensure your command is registered as "general"
This works:
defun( testPick (), println(car(axlGetSelSet()) ->name)
axlCmdRegister("tpk" 'testPick ?cmdType "general")
This doesn't:
defun( testPick (), println(car(axlGetSelSet()) ->name)
axlCmdRegister("tpk" 'testPick)
