Update Text variables across all layers instantly

Hello

I am looking for a functionality i used in old P-cad (windows Version)

It allowed you to instantly update all kind of text variables that change from design to design

There was a form with all variables which you could fill at final stages

and you could reflect all those values all over the design where the variables are located

Variables were in different layers with different text size and justifications.

This way you save time updating different values in different layers and avoiding miss of few

And increase automation and confidence that all updates to Manufacturing notes and master drawing done.

Possible variables are:

Date

customer name

design name

PCB P/N & Rev

Assy P/N

layout designer name

PCB finish

layer count

pad count

Copper Thicknesses

 etc...

With this functionallity you could prepare PCB templates containing all variables in place

And possibility to update all changes from one unified form at end of design

Is there any way to implemet this?

Do you think it is necessary ?

Thank you

Robyd

    Hi

Yes this can be done. I have a titleblock update program that needs to be cleared for custom data before I can publish it.

However, until then you can use the attached skill program, which search and replace after a string starting with "Date:" and fills out the current date and time

It can easily be expanded to look for other names, or just specific subclasses etc.

    Best regards

    Ole
