New DXF file importing

Amit2812
Amit2812 over 14 years ago
I am using Cadence 16.3 & I already design a board in to it. First time I gone through board setup where I imported my component restriction dwg (DXF) file.

Can anybody tell me how I can imort new file into it...

Note : Shall not touch disturb other layers as well as components..

Thanks

    Hi Amit,

Glad to hear you are now getting a DXF file imported without destroying your existing board file.

I would suggest opening the DXF file in a DXF viewer to know what you're importing. That's generally my first step so that I can have a look at what I'm working with and verify I've correctly set up the DXF In options. If you don't have a DXF viewer, I suggest taking a look at this and this.

The DXF file will be imported according to the existing origin of your board file. So if the DXF file seems "lost", you may have to adjust the offset of the DXF file so it's 0,0 point lines up with the origin of your board file.

As a friendly reminder, this post doesn't (yet??) involve SKILL. For a question about using the "out of the box" tool functions, like importing DXF files, you should post in the PCB Design forum.
