Mouse pointer control

evgy over 14 years ago

Hi ALL,

Does anybody have an idea how can i lock one of the axises (X orY) while "move" command. It means when i pick up a symbol i call to an interactive function that keeps symbols X value constant(despite i move a mouse pointer at two directions), so i can transfer the symbol along Y axis only without demagig X axis position.

Thanks in advance,

EVGY

    Hi,

This isn't difficult. You can use the axlDBCreateSymbol command and "lock" the x or y position.

    So, here's a possible method:

Ask the user to select a symbol.

Set up a popup with "X axis move" and "Right axis move" as Right Mouse Button (RMB) options.

Use axlDynamicsObject to place the symbol graphics on the cursor

Use axlEnterEvent (within a while loop) to get the user to select a location.

Use axlDBCreateSymbol to place the sysmbol after "locking" either x or y to the original axis.

    Regards,

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Thank you much for the idia. If I understood right your suggestion is to allow user to pick up a symbol and move cursor with the symbol in X&Y direstions and after he(she) chooses a new location  ignore delta X from pick up location and place the symbol considering only delta Y from pick up location(in X  axis lock mode).

I need to prevent moving the cursor at X or Y direction. Moving symbols with axis lock isn't the single purpose. Is there any way(maybe not SKILL function) to prevent one direction moving of cursor itself? It is same as the X  or Y axis mouse wheel stoped working.

    Thank you in advance.

Ok, I understand what you are trying to do - effectively slide a component along an axis.

I suggest using the axlCursorWarp function. It's available in 16.3 but not documented. You will need to enclose this in an event loop.

While this isn't advanced programming, it is probably quite a tricky litle application. Good luck!

    Dave

Thank you Dave and Djhutchi !!!

Just upgraded to 16.5..  and I hope I'll find the way to solve the issue using these commands.
