     Yes, my mistake.

     axlIsHighlighted

    Description
    If the object is permanently highlighted returns the highlight color; otherwise nil.

    And this work for permanently highlighted objects.

    <code>

    ; permanent highlight any symbol using Display > Assign Color (I use yellow)
    axlSetFindFilter(?enabled '(GROUPS SYMBOLS PINS VIAS TEXT NAMEFORM ) ?onButtons '(SYMBOLS)) ; filter
    axlSelect(?groupMode nil ?prompt nil)
    ; now select symbol
    _selectedObjects = axlGetSelSet() ;
    ; now _selectedObjects contains LIST of objects
    axlIsHighlighted(_selectedObjects)
    ; -> nil
    axlIsHighlighted(car(_selectedObjects))
    ; -> 8
    ; now we have object id in _selectedObjects. Exit from any commands, deselect any objects
    axlIsHighlighted(car(_selectedObjects))
    ; -> 8

    </code>
