using axlDMFileBrowse to select files

I tried using the function axlDMFileBrowse to search for a certain file but if the filename have illegal characters like "(", ")", "[" , "]" etc. will just show an Information dialog box about the error. Is there any workaround regarding this issue?

My goal is to select any files and rename it to a certain pattern. Thanks in advance.
