Using skill, is there a way to zoom to the selection set?

Check out the axlZoomToDbid() command and see if that will work for you.

Indeed it works - however it's not a very tight zoom.  Is there a notion of "zoom percentage" in Allegro?

Side note:  AutoCAD uses a large public variable list which controls behavior of certain actions - does Allegro have a similar thing?

axlZoomToDbid() puts the selected objects extents in about 20% of the display.  You can use axlWindowBoxGet(), update the values to your desired zoom factor and then use axlWindowBoxSet().
