Parsing a techfile outside of a Cadence tool revisited yet again

Greetings all,

Has anyone had any luck parsing a non-xml techfile outside of a Cadence tool ie without using SKILL? Seems this would be tricky for a custom parser what with all the parenthesis that have to jibe and scanning multiple lines etc. Is there a Python or Scheme module available for this?

  • I think that you might be referring to the "Constraints" (DCF) file, rather than "Techfile" (TCF) which always looks to be XML? In which case the file format is called S-expressions, this is a LISP format but parsers exist for many other languages including Python (it seems), try a web search for "Python parse s-expression" which should get you some Python answers which may help.
