extracting director from fully-qualified-file-name using rexCompile

Greetings all,

Given myFullFilename = "/user/me/a/long/and/winding/path/to/fubar.txt"

need a rexCompile/rexReplace recipe

rexCompile(???????????)

that will yield

myFullPath = rexReplace( myFullFilename , "" , 1) <= "/user/me/a/long/and/winding/path/to"

I think something along the lines of

rexCompile("^.+\$/[^/]+$\$") would work but so far I haven't hit upon the correct combination

ah, the solution is rexCompile("\\/[^\\/]+$")

Did you tried axlDMFileParts ?

fileparts = axlDMFileParts("/usr1/xxx/stuff.txt"))
--> ("/usr1/xxx/" "stuff" "stuff.txt" "txt")
