To create components from gerber using allegro tool

Hi All,

can any one help me to create pcb footprints from gerber using allegro tool.

I have imported gerbers in to the board file(using ipc2581),to create components I need to measure each component pad stack  one by one to create the footprints.

Do we have any skill to automate this process of measuring pad dimensions from old gerbers and creating new components.

    Building footprints from Gerber would be a last resort for me and I have never done this.

    If you already have IPC2581 then you already have more intelligent data to work with. However, that implies that you also have the original design albeit in another tool. I have always found it easier to generate footprints from the source ascii file.
