How to pull region information for a shape

Hey guys,

I'm working on a script that performs length checking on clines but I need it to ignore clines specified in a certain constraint region. I can collect all shapes from the CONSTRAINT REGION\ALL subclass but I have not been able to identify which shape belongs to which constraint region. How can I pull the region information assigned to a certain shape? I see that shape->region is supposed to be an accessible attribute of the shape but all I have returned from there is nil no matter what I try. Any help is appreciated.

Look at the parentGroups of the constraint region shape and the parent group that is of type "REGION".

Perfect! Thanks Dave! Just what I was looking for. Any idea why shape->region doesn't do the same thing? Is that just outdated? Either way car(Shape->parentGroups)->name worked like a charm for me. Thanks again!

I don't see that attribute on constraint region shapes. However I do see it on etch shapes. That might be a clue.

Ah that makes sense. I was unaware that constraint region shapes were a different category than etch shapes, there is only "shapes" listed in the Allegro SKILL Reference guide so I thought all shapes fell under that category.
