Colorview issues in Allegro

I have 2 issues with "colorview" I can't seem to figure out.

1. I have several views set up as "toggle" views. These will work once and then I have to select another view, then go back to the one I want to toggle. I have recreated these several times but they all behave the same way.  I can go to "scripts" and run them and they will toggle correctly without running other colorviews. These are colorviews I have used for years. Is there a switch or setting that controls the colorview toggle?

2. There are times I lose the colorview list in visibility all together. The only way I can get it back is the reopen Allegro. Again, is there a switch or setting that causes/prevents this from happening? Is there a way to reload this list into the v isibility pane?

Is there a way to fix these problems without writing a skill program to run them?

Thanks!

    Hi Mike,

What version of the software are you running? I have seen the first one before about the toggles, but that's fixed in the more recent ISRs. So, it might just be that you need to update to the latest software. I'd be able to tell you more accurately if I know what ISR you're running (take me a few minutes to dig up what ISR of what release it is fixed in -- even knowing the base release, 17.2 or 17.4, will help me narrow it down).

For the second item, I haven't seen that particular item before. I am not sure what would cause it, but the views should repopulate if you just reopen the design (that will force a refresh of the visibility panel, including the list of views that also includes the films for the design and stuff). If you can figure out when it happens, or send me a basic idea of the commands that you ran before, I can try to reproduce it over here and we can take a closer look together.

    Regards,
    - Tyler

Hey Tyler, thanks for the quick response. I am currently on 17.2-2016 S055 5/11/2019.

On issue 2, I seem to remember that the views are dynamically load. If you create a new colorview it will show up in the list. That got me to thinking. My pcbenv folder is on a sever and sometimes I lose connection to that server. So I am trying an experiment by copying the pcbenv folder to my local computer and change the environment to look locally. However I won't know if it fixes this issue for a while.

    Thanks again!

Yes, they are dynamically loaded. Let us know what you find. If you dropped the network connection to the server and it tried to reload, it wouldn't find those views to be accessible. Makes sense that they would disappear. In which case, after you reconnected to the drive, anything that would refresh the views list would fill it up again. I think that you can do that by opening the color192 form and making and change then closing it. Or, of course, saving the design and reopening it. We know that'll do it.

I poked around. The selecting of the same view multiple times (so, a toggle view) is fixed in the 17.4 release stream only. It needed a slight tweak to the events that get triggered. Basically, if you picked the same item as was already in the list, the UI was saying hey, you didn't change anything. I'll be efficient and NOT go and do anything, either! I'm so smart! Which for films is okay, since they aren't toggles. But for views isn't quite right. So, the filtering of the events needed to be moved down a level to where it could see what entry from the pulldown was picked, how it related to the current entry, and whether it needed to update the canvas.

I did notice sometimes when I opened color192 the list would come back. However, it didn't do that every time. I'll you know if moving the folder to my computer solves this disappearing act.
