Mounting hole with vias to ground

I have been trying to design a mounting hole with vias around it which short the pin to GND.

So far, I've created a padstack of the main mounting hole and a via as a Thru-Pin element. I want to add the vias around the mounting holes but I've been getting DRC errors.

The final footprint is being created as a Package Symbol. How can I fix it?

So you will ALWAYS see DRC errors in the Package Symbol because there is no nets. having said that you are seeing PP errors which are Pin to Pin not Pin to via, so Add vias using the Layout - Connections command then double click to add a via. Once this part is used in a board design it will have a net associated to it and the DRC's will not be shown. There is a example app note which should help:- www.parallel-systems.co.uk/.../Mechanical_Via_Arrays.pdf

Also the vias showing 1, 4, 7, etc. imply these are 'electrical pins'. Hence you'll need to show these in the schematic. If that's what you intend, fine. But if you only want GND vias, per se, delete the pin numbers and manage the electrical connectivity in Allegro layout.

Hi Steve. Thank you for your help.

I followed that tutorial from parallel-systems, but I have three more questions:

    1. In that tutorial, the creator added one via only which is supposed to be connected to the ground. Is it sufficient? Don't I have to connect all the vias to the ground?

    2. What about Package Keepout? When I add an area around the pad, I get a DRC Error "Package to Place Keepout Spacing"

    3. How to remove the 3D Model from the hole?

    Hi so answers:-

    1. It;s the other way round, one connect pin, the rest are vias - read the app note carefully.

    2. You can add a Package Keepout if you want but if you have a Place_Bound_Top shape then no need for a Package Keepout.

    3. In the 3d canvas go to Setup - Preferences - Symbol Representation and set Only the Step Model, that way only parts with step models will be shown.
