How to create an assembly drawing with pcb editor?

Is there a creative way to export(or save as pdf) an assembly drawing? Perhaps save the silkscreen with the board outline?

Yes, you can create an artwork film with your assembly classes / subclasses (so maybe Board_Geometry/Design_Outline, Package_Geometry/Assembly_Top and RefDes/Assembly_Top) then once the film is there use Export - PDF to generate the Assembly drawing. If you  are not sure how to make an artwork film watch this:- www.youtube.com/watch

That worked and the video was helpful. So, the idea would be to create artwork that could be printed to pdf, or other, as a form of documentation?

When sending the files to the board house, i would omit those art files. correct?

How do I display the dimensions in the assembly drawing?

I see the board outline but, not the dimensions. Perhaps they where not created.

You will need to add the dimension layer to your assembly artwork config or it won't show up.

There's a youtube vid on Allegro Associative Dimensioning.

I created the assembly drawing and included the dimensions(as a separate film for both top and bottom). The text for the bottom assembly drawing is mirrored. If I changed it to a non-mirrored format, for assembly purposes, it alters the bottom silkscreen film as well.

Have I assigned the wrong class to the text? the ref des text?

    How do I correct this?

How do I create an assembly drawing for the bottom layer that removes the mirroring of the text?(needed for visual inspection)

If I remove the mirror it moves it to the top layer in the design.

You can just accept the mirror on the artwork film (the fabricator should recognise this) or you can create an assembly view. Setup the display to show what you need then use Display - Flip Design (to show it mirrored, then use Manufacture - Drafting - Create Detail, set a class/subclass and scale in the options pane (so a layer you want the info to be on) then draw a window around your design, a window is then attached to your mouse to place on the canvas somewhere. Setup a new artwork film of this view and include it in the PDF export.
