Z-Copy. Shape will be filled

Hello,

if I have a Board Outline and I want to make a e.g. Route Keepin the Z-Copy function could be used.

By using of this Function e.g. with Expand I get a filled shape. How is it poossible to get unfilled shape. I tried to check the option "no_shape_fill" in the User Preferences. It works. But if filled shape required the option must be uncheck again. Is any trick to use the Z-Copy without filling of the shape?

Thanks

16.6 - I do this zcopy approach all the time for board outline to rout keep in, and I never get a filled shape; however, one time I accidentally hit Route keep out, and I did get a filled shape.  Took me a few minutes to figure this out because I like a fool that I am, always assume I  know what I am doing..... Slight smile  check the shape for what sub class it is..  Good Luck

I have an unfilled shape on the Board Geometry Documentation Layer. So, I want to create expand shape with Z-Copy. The new shape is filled. Fill Mode: Solid and Fill Type is static. How the solid shape coud be changed?

    Thanks

    1. Under the Shape tool pull down - Select Shape or Void - then select the shape and right click and a menu will pop up that allows for you to change the shape type Dynamic/Static

    2. This is dependent on the subclass (I use 16.6), I love the decomposed shape command. When using this tool note the options - Which class and sub class, then select the Delete the shape after decompose option  - this leaves lines of the boundary.

So an example of use: In footprint creation I Zcopy on my place bound geometry to the Package Silk Screen top and expand it, say 12 mil.  I then decomposed the shape on the Package Silk Top onto the Package Geometry - sub class Silk Top,  using  the option  Delete Shape shape after decompose option - the shape is deleted the leaving the lines.  I then change the width of the lines say 8 or 10 mils.  Now I have the Package Silk..  Slight smile  Easy Peasy.....

Note - One of My Big Rant Hot Button Issues:   If you use the dumb IPC rules for Place bound Geometry creation, this process will make the silk outline be miles from the package.  The IPC should revisit the Place bound rules and teach people how to setup DFA constraints properly.... Disappointed

Sorry, since the programmers at cadence are trying to make Allegro work like Altium it may  be that some of the best features of a once great tool may not longer work. So: What, me worry? :0
