Calculate part reference during part placement

majness

I recently switched from an older version of OrCAD to 17.4
I was used to have automatic part reference generation from the current one when placing a new part using copy and paste (e.g. copying part U600 and subseqeuntly pasting it resulted in a part having next free reference U606)
In 17.4 I only managed to select options to have U?, the first available (here U2) or higher than the last one (here U2304).
Any hint, how I can set this option?
Thanks.

Options - Preferences - Miscellaneous tab and enable automatically reference placed parts and Design level only (for PCB Designs).

I already tried this one. This way, the reference generated is the lowest one that's free (U2 in my example) and not the next free one above the copied part (U606 in my example).
So I'd need a setting to start the search from the actually used reference number.

More specific: I have a design with 23 pages and want to have the parts with a page prefix in their reference (e.g. page 1 with 1xx, page 23 with 23xx). In said example I'm on page 6 and want my next U being placed the first free U-reference, in this case U606. I migrated the design from the said former version and don't know which setup need be changed in 17.4 to get the same behaviour again.

Place the components as it is without worrying refdes at first instance. Then perform advanced annotation where you can control annotation based on pages and components inside pages.

For instance, you have pages 1 and 2 with R,L,C in both. You can set prefix 10 followed by 2 or 3 decimal zeros (depending on the total set of components)  in the start and end value for page 1 and 20 prefix for page 2 and so on. refer to the screenshot

Resulting refdes on page 2 after advanced annotation and the same appears on page 1 with prefix 10(refdes value)
