USB Micro B holes size of footprint

Hi

I have problem with the drill size of the USB Micro B. The manufacture asked me this question, I am not getting what that mean.

Can anyone help me with this question?

Here is the link of datasheet and drawing of the component that I  am using in my PCB design.

Datasheet:

I really appreciate the help.

Thanks

On the drawing for this part, it looks to me like they intend to use "Slots" for those mounting tabs. In your cad file it is showing two drill holes in the center of that pad.

Ideally you would want to define these pads as Slots, or you could use a oval pad with one .043 mil hole instead. If it was me I would re-do the pads on that footprint and make those particular
    pads slots.

It is interesting they didn't have an issue with the other two oval pads "Gold" in the picture, these are also called out as slots in the drawing.

The easiest thing to do would be to change those mounting tab pads to slots and update the symbol.

    All the best.

    Thank you..

I have changed that green mounting pads into slots. Do I need to change  those two (blue) drill holes into slots as well ?? Or I need to delete them ??

I tried to change that it gives me this warning "Drill hole size is equal to or larger than smallest pad size.  Pad will be drilled away."

    Can you please help ?

    Thanks once again.

    HI

If using slots you do not need drill holes defined in the padstack. You need to delete the drill holes !.

Did you create the symbol yourself or did you just download it ?. If the latter you would need to verify that this symbol does indeed match the datasheet provided by AMP.
If you look at sheet 2 of the datasheet it shows you the physical size of the pads and the slot within the pad. Keep in mind these mounting pads may not have much margin so you
may need to increase their size slightly. If you have the physical part then you could fairly easily measure those tabs with a caliper to determine a Go / No Go.

Thing is these parts may be auto placed so it is important that the physical tab on the part can simply slide into your PCB. if the slot is too small or the tab is tight in the slot, placement
with an SMD Placer wont work.

These slot pads are basically through-hole but instead of having a drill hole the pad is routed out with a small router bit. The pads would also be plated since the body of the part is metal.

    Best Regards.

    Thanks!

I downloaded the footprint from the Ultra Librarian.

I don't have physical part that is the point.

I am using slot without drill holes. I send the  for the fabrication.

Hopefully, it comes out to be good.

    I really appreciate your help.

    Thanks once again.
