Copper covering mounting hole issue

Hi

Sorry if this has been asked before, but my issue is as follows:

Copper ONCopper OFF

I defined some non-plated through hole/slots in padstack editor. The 'regular pad' was set to None/less than hole diameter so as not to have any copper being shown around/over the hole. But as you can see above, when i turn on the copper on Top layer, these holes get covered by Copper which is not desired. Soldermask is not a problem as i made it bigger than the hole. Do i need to define antipad or seomething similar to avoid copper being shown over the holes?

Thanks

I'm assuming you have copper flooded over the hole on the TOP layer? You may need a keepout area either drawn as part of the Mechanical Symbol or use the KEEPOUT option when editing the pad.

Here's how they are currently defined:

    6mm hole5.3mmhole

One hole has no copper pad defined, while the other one has copper pad size much less than the hole diameter.

I believe the rootcause is as follows:

Actually, i am preparing database for Panelization which means that i am defining a dra file which is actually a panel of 100x100mm square. In this panel(dra file), i am adding some circular non-plated mounting holes(shown above) at the corner of this panel. This panel is 4 layer board and when i pour the copper over this panel, it is by default poured as static copper instead of dynamic copper which leads to the problem i guess. Tried to change static copper to dynamic, but it seems that i cant choose dynamic as this option is greyed out(inactive).

Now,tried both options of using KEEP OUT area in pad file and defining Route Keepout>ALL in dra file. But, none of them helps.

The only way i guess is to:-

    • somehow change the copper fill from Static to dynamic. Which i have not found a way to do yet.
    • Perform Shape> Manual Void> Circular for each layer manually to avoid copper being shown around the desired holes.
