Editing existed PCB design

Hi,

I want to modify the already designed PCB. I bought a PCB from microchip and got Schematic and PCB files of that PCB. I want to modify that PCB design. I made changes in the schematic but when I try to update the PCB design from updated schematic, it shows that I need to place all the components again. Is there any way that can modify only a small part of it and keep rest as it is ??

Please help me how should I modify the PCB.

Thanks

Sugreev

No way you are using the proper schematic and board.  This only happens when the source schematic and PCB are different.  Something changed so find the correct source and this won't happen.

From a distance, it sounds like you need to export the board footprint library to a local directory (dra, psm, pad, etc.) and put that directory in your search path config.

Even if an 0201 resistor footprint is on the board, still need an external library file for the footprint when importing a netlist (unless there is a new trick I don't know about.)

(and make sure you didn't reset/annotate new refdes assignments in the schematic.   That would be bad.)

My limited understanding is the company you got these designs from, support customers using Altium.  Are you sure you have Cadenced based schematics and layouts, you may want to reach out to them.

Yes, I export files from Altium to OrCAD PCB files.
