Can't Open OrCad PCB Editor

Gipper
Gipper over 4 years ago

I am unable to open OrCAD PCB Editor application at all. Each time I try to open, I get the following message.

I've recovered the .SAV file to a .brd using DBDoctor, but that did not fix it. I've updated from S015 to S016. I've tried other board files. Nothing works.

Ideas on how to open the program?

Go to a Windows File Explorer window and in the address bar type %HOME% followed by a return. This opens your HOME folder (usually C:\SPB_data). In here is a pcbenv folder, try renaming this to pcbenv_old then restart PCB Editor and try again,

Steve, I appreciate the help. I started working with EMA-EDA support yesterday afternoon on the issue. For posterity, I've tried the following.

Please try starting the PCB Editor from the Windows Start menu using the following command.

     C:\Cadence\SPB_17.4\tools\bin\allegro -safe

If that makes no difference, try starting the editor with this command

     C:\Cadence\SPB_17.4\tools\bin\allegro -noopengl

    Neither of those commands worked.

This issue started after a Windows system update, so something must have been changed or corrupted in that process.

I am now re-installing the application.
