Allegro crashes when assigning net to via

Fredda

I've tried in a number of different ways to assign a net to a via but Allegro constantly crashes. In the video below I'm trying with right click and "Assign net to via". I've also tried to reroute the track and double click to add a via, but that also results in a crash. I've run dbdoctor, but that doesn't help. Any ideas?

Make sure you are running the latest hotfix S017. Does it happen on a different via / net?. You can try running DBDoctor externally (its available in the Start Menu). If that doesn't help you may need to send the board to Cadence Support or the Channel Partner for them to send it in for you.

I've had a number of similar problems where Allegro constantly crashes when changing the etch in a particular area. Most of the time I've been able to circumvent the problem by changing the design at another place or ripping up the etch and reroute the tracks. It's like getting Allegro on a different execution path to avoid the crash path where it does something illegal. Sort of... In any case, that kind of strategy helped here as well, but it took some time to find a "new path".

The hotfixes are getting pushed by the organization and we're currently using S015. Will try to push for the S017. Thanks.

I've just had another similar problem where Allegro crashes. However, after installing hotfix S018 it seems to be working.

    1. Make sure graphic drivers are updated. Having external 2GB graphics is always recommended.

    2. Make sure your design folder path and design name doesn't have any illegal characters in it such as white spaces, hypen, dot...and so on.
