Test Point to Component Distance Report

Hey guys

I was working on a test point to component csv parser file to see if I could find test points that were too close to each other according some clearance rules and the scope expanded beyond what i'm capable of right now on the software side of things.  While still working on this project for my own sake, I wanted to know if there was already a feature of OrCAD PCB Designer where I could see a report of test points that are too close to components or that would at least display distances between components, if they're on the top or bottom.  I would like the edge to edge distances between the test points and components.

Your contract manufacturer CM may still find more issues than you will, since the Valor NPI Test-point analysis has 2x the number of checks that the Allegro  Productivity Toolbox provides...

True ok. So even if  the Allegro Productivity Toolbox passes our Test Point Check as far as Test Point vs Test Point and Test Point vs Component, the CM will still find issues on those same TPs and Components?

Might I suggest you take your board into "Specctra" and use that to generate your test-points and reports. It works very well and does not need any additional tools.

Hey is there a guide on how to do this?  Is Specctra another PCB Design softer? Or an additional feature?

    Hi

Specctra is the old PCB Autorouter cadence acquired from CCT. In the allegro tools they call it the "PCB Router" It is also an interactive router similar to the allegro PCB editor
tho in my opinion for manual routing it is probably faster.

To invoke it from the Allegro PCB Editor use PCB ROUTER > Route Editor. One of the features of it is the ability to auto route in Test-Points and also create reports on those
    testpoints.

You can also export your board file to it. Use File Export > Router, File Import router imports your routed design back into the allegro pcb editor. It has its own icon if you want
to use it without having allegro open.

It comes with docs but some learning required as with all things.
