Move parts as a group

Hey,

I have a big connector with some mechanical requirements. I want to figure out the mechanical spacing for some screw holes that are required, then move it onto the PCB, place, and route it without any of the parts changing position relatively. I would also like a visual outline of the card that will be plugged into my board so that I know where tall parts cannot be placed. I can group the parts into a new group, and I can (kind of) select them and move them relative to each other, but I can always move one of the parts separately if I click on it. To be honest, I can't really select them and move them as a group at all, the super filter selects any parts I highlight, not just the grouped ones. Also if I select the group, then try to use the move tool, it overwrites the group selection and prompts me to pick a part again before I can move. I don't want to do a lot of routing work only to realize that someone accidentally dragged a screw hole a few thou and everything needs to be ripped up.

Is there a way to group some parts together and move them relative to each other? Or is this impossible

    HI.

To move multiple parts at the same time give the following a try using just "General Edit Mode"

In the find filter uncheck everything and check symbols only. Using your mouse draw a window around the parts with the left button pressed so as to select them. When selected they will highlight.

Last thing is move the mouse over one of the parts and then "Right Click" and choose move. Drag the parts to the location you want.

To select only certain parts you wish to move hold down the "Ctrl Key" and left click each part with the mouse so they highlight. Then right click on a part and choose move.

If you switch from general edit mode to say placement edit mode additional placement features will be available. Generally speaking most of the placement operations are kind of just a drag operation so getting
a good handle on how to select parts and move them should make things alot more easy and fluid.
