Align pins of components

LSAUGE

Hello,

Is there an easy way to align components by pins ?

For example, I'd like to have some smd footprints aligned to each pin of a connector.

I can do it manually with the known space between the pins of the connector but I wonder if ther is an easier way.

Cheers,

Loïc

Can you try the Align Components option that is available with Placement Edit Mode

What did you select in order to align the pins ?

I only managed to align the components themself by edge or center

I don't think there is a direct way to do it. I uderstand what you want to do. You want to align several components to the pins of another component. Like when you place current limitting resistors in front of a multi-channel chip. However, there are many restrictions to take into account. What if the pitch between pins doesn't match the size of the other components and it provoques an overlap? I think it's a very specific need, very situational. I can tell you that the "Align components" won't work because it's only meant to work on components as a whole. It can't target a pin and a component to act on. I'm sorry.

This is possible but individually, If you invoke Edit - Move then in the Options pane enable Dynamic Alignment and click on Preferences, if you unset Placebound and Component Origin (so just leave Ratsnest then that should give you what you want,

Thanks for your answer, I will try it next time.

This time, I used the absolute coordinate of the pins to align them.
