Allegro - Tip of the week: Managing your output files

Looking to manage your artwork, plots and reports more efficiently?

Beginning with ADS, there is a suite of variables designed to create subdirectories for the common data files. You can find these variables in Setup > User Preferences > File_management > Output_dir and Versioning sections.

For example, if you want to save all artwork files generated for a board in a folder named “artwork” in your current working directory, you need to specify the name of the subdirectory as the value for the “ads_sdart” variable. Similarly, you can start using the variables “ads_sdlog” for log files, “ads_sdreport” for all reports, and “ads_sdplot” for plot files.

You can also manage the versions of the files generated, for example, to maintain the number of log files generated from the tool, set the “ads_logrevs” variable value to a desired number.
