Embedded Components for Compact Designs

While designing the physical layout, layout designers can place components on the internal PCB layers. Components that are placed on the internal PCB layers are called embedded components. 

Allegro PCB Editor supports the embedding of passive and active components within the inner layers of a PCB. Steps for embedding are as follows:

  • Set up the EMBEDDED_PLACEMENT property at the schematic level.
  • Set up the Embedded layer using Allegro Cross-section Editor. Set the ‘component direction’ in the Embedded Status column and the ‘component attach method’ in the Attach Method

  • Now, place the components on the required layer using the right-mouse-click > Place on Layer
