User Preferences / UI / Color Hide Color Palette

Does anyone know what the functionality of this setting is, i.e.  what does it do?

Ticking the Value box sets a line in Defined Variables (this is displayed by clicking button called List All at the bottom of the User Preferences Editor window) as:  set hidecolorpalette =     (there is nothing that follows the = sign)

The Summary Description is:

Category:  UI/Color

Set to hide the palette from the color form at startup or when a new design is opened.  Requires restart.

I have tried this with the box checked and unchecked and can't see any differences in the UI behavior.

Thanks!

This is used long back for older color forms and it does not work with 17.4 forms. I think it is missed to be removed.

Yes!  Cadence confirmed that is an obsolete variable that was used with Color command, now we have Color192.
