Back annotate a copy/pasted part from PCB Editor to Capture?

I'm wondering if there is a way to back annotate a part from PCB Editor to Capture. For example I want to copy/paste a mounting hole already on the board in PCB Editor. When I do it shows E* as the refdes since it is not connected to anything. Is there a way to push that change back to Capture to where it will  just place it on the schematic and I can rename the refdes or is the only way to edit the schematic and push to PCB Editor? I'm using 17.2.

Thanks

Hi, things are not designed to work this way.

While you can forward annotate from the schematic it is not possible to back annotate from the pcb editor to place a new symbol on the schematic. The actual symbol has to exist on the schematic first.

For your mounting hole the best method is to have a symbol on the schematic for it that maps to your mounting hole footprint on your pcb.
