How Does One Prevent Via creation During Active Routing Sequence from Always Snapping into Nearby Pad?

Please forgive me if this is a dumb or repeat question, but it's been a year since I did my last layout. I cannot seem to figure out how to prevent a via that I create via a right-click during an active routing sequence from always snapping into the pad of the nearby component that I'm routing from.  I tried exploring the "Constraints..." and "Constraint Modes..." menus, but the pertinent features are already turned off.  I also searched this blog and could not find any other similar questions.  I remember the last time I did a full layout, wherever I right clicked and chose Add Via, the via would drop right where I was right-clicking.

My grid is set quite fine, so that cannot be it.  Maybe there is some sort of default "Snap To..." setup that is causing this?

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Of course, I think I just figured it out for myself. I had to left-click first while running the initial route away from the pin where the route started in order to establish a point off of the pad. Then, from there when I right-click and choose "Add VIa", the via then drops right in the spot where the second left-click had been done. Pilot error. Maybe this will help someone else down the line.
