Allegro – Tip of the week: Adding text from a text file

Wondering how to add multiple lines of text on to the board file without having to type the entire text manually?

Allegro PCB Editor provides an option to easily add the entire text at once by reading it from a .txt file. To add the text from a .txt file on the disk to the board, follow these steps:

1. Run the add text command from the menu (Add > Text).

2. Set the desired text options in the Options

  • Active Class and Subclass
  • Marker size
  • Rotation
  • Text block
  • Text name
  • Text just (justification)

3. Position the cursor at the location where the first line of text should start and click.

4. Right-click and choose the Read from File option from the dropdown menu.
