Choose default board file program version

Hello all,

So I have both ver 17.4 and 22.1 installed right now and I would mainly like to use 17.4 until a few more hotfixes are out for 22.1.

When I open a board file in windows it defaults to 22.1. I have tried changing the system variables to 17.4 and tried using right click and "open with" and choosing the 17.4 executable, but nothing has worked, it still opens with 22.1.

I can start 17.4 if I go to the 17.4 folder and run it but I cant get windows to associate .brd files with 17.4 instead of 22.1.

Anyone knows how to change this? Slight smile

Thanks

This is controlled at a system level by the Cadence Switch Release application from the Cadence group in the Windows Start Menu, check from the shortcut properties that you are running the version from the 22.1 installation hierarchy, otherwise the 22.1 Release won't be listed. That's all fine apart from the fact that Windows has a hierarchy of File Associations and, if user changes have been made, the system settings will, likely be, no longer be active. In such cases, you will need to do a web search on how to clear File Associations from your Windows installation manually. There used to be an application published to neatly handle this but, it may no longer be available and / or local security may prevent you from getting and running such a utility.
