Allegro – Tip of the Week: Suppressing pin-to-pin violations within the same symbol

PCB Designers often use constraint regions to suppress pin-to-pin violations within the same symbol. You can do this by applying the “Nodrc_Sym_Same_Pin” property to the symbol.

However, did you know that it can also be applied to the drawing?

Applying it at the drawing level has a global impact on all symbols.

1. Go to Edit > Properties and then select Drawing in the Find By Name field. Select More.

2. Select Drawing Select.

3. It has now moved to the Selected objects section.

4. Click Apply and then pick Nodrc_Sym_Same_Pin from the list.

Fine  (but WHY drc's in same componnent: foortrint creation problems?)  BUT verry dangerous in case when higth voltage on pcb: it can "hide" a real problem. We do not permit the use of this property in our company because of this (prefer "waive" and comment to explain the approbation for quality procedure purpose)

FYI this does not work for me (OrCAD X 2023.1). When I click Apply on step 4 nothing happens and I get message: "(SPMHA1-174): Illegal BMS record number".

Not a big deal for me as I plan to follow jc teysseir's advice about using a waiver instead.
