Allegro - Tip of the Week: Controlling the numbering of all RefDes when renaming from start

If you are going to use the Logic > Auto Rename RefDes > Rename command, there is a way to control the starting point of numbering. You can use the fst_ref_des environment variable. You must ensure that RefDes digits in the Sequential Renaming section of the UI allow for the number of digits in the fst_ref_des variable. In other words, if the value of fst_ref_des is 100, Sequential Renaming Refdes Digits should be higher than 3.

The variable is located under Setup > User Preferences > Manufacture > Silkscreen. Here is an example of how a board looks before and after renaming the RefDes values:
