Show Test Point connected net in footprint

I want to make a simple one pin test point footprint .dra symbol. I want to make it display the connected net or "part of net" property for the pin on the package geometry silkscreen top layer so that when I use it in the design, the connected net displays and moves with the footprint. Right now the only way I know how to do this is to add the connected net text manually once I'm in the pcb design tool. But then this gets problematic when you need to start moving test points around. Is there any way to accomplish this at the footptint level?

Can you please tell us what version of Allegro you are using? (17.2, 17.4, 22.1 etc..) To clarify, you want to display the pin net name in silkscreen layer, is that correct? If you create a testpoint dra, then the net name shall appear in the pad already. Do you have a particular requirement for showing this net in the silkscreen gerbers?

Just add some text on the appropriate silkscreen layer to the footprint.

After test point is placed on the board, edit the (silkscreen) text to be the net name.

The test point can be moved and the net name in silk will stay attached.

You might like to try this skill routine. It works in layout. Add the file to your pcb directory and type

skill load("add_net_ref_v1-3_forum.il")
Then type the command addnetref. There is a help file to explain how it works.

I have no doubt that there are plenty of improvements that could be made to the Skill code, so if

anyone wants to post updated versions feel free to do so.
