Library "quality" mask layer pastemask missing?

luqa

hello,

we swap from eagle to orcad -> sry i am new in orcad.

the default package libraray in eagle was great with a lot of well proofed ic packages.

i need an ssop-16 package -> orcad default package libraray is missing the package -> i want to create my own package

i checked the orcad library and check the soic16 package, but there is the pastemask layer missing.

My questions:

Why is the pastemask layer missing on some parts in the library?

Do I now have to check every library component for correctness?

thanks a lot

    Hi Luqa,

Before creating the symbol, you should have defined the padstack that it would use (using the padstack editor). When doing so, did you define the Pastemask layer or did you use a padstack that had it defined? It would be a good idea to check the padstack first and make sure that the layer is correctly set up. That way you won't have to check every component you create with it in the future.

    Hello,

my question is mainly about the component in the Orcad library. I used the most parts from the eagle library without check them against correctness. I want to use the soic device from the orcad library and these part has some missing layers.

my question: Is the Orcad library neglected and should the parts be checked before use?

thanks, sorry for the bad description
