Modify design Padstack with Flash Symbol doesn't work

Ananas

I have following Problem:

I want to edit my local Pastemask of an IC, so the solderpaste has a cross in it.

Therefore I changed, in the Pad Editor, the Pastemask_Top to a self drawn Flash Symbol,

When i update to Design and Exit, it changes the Pastemask to Outside Dimensions of the Flash Symbol, but the cross isnt there.

When i go in the Pad Editor again, i see, that the Geometry Dropdown Menu changed to Rectangle again, but the Flash symbol is still there two rows below.

    Hello Ananas,

I've followed your instructions and have not been able to reproduce the issue. I've modified a padstack indiidually (the instance not the definition) and after creating a flash symbol and assigning it to its pastemask_top layer, this is the result:

You can see how the padstack on the left side has the cross and the one of the right side doesn't. Let me also show you how it looks in the padstack editor:

What Hotfix are you using? if the issue persists, I might have to contact you separately so you can share the database you're having issue with and I can take a look at it.

You may find it easier just to put rectangles on the PACKAGE GEOMETRY/PASTEMASK_TOP layer of the symbol rather than attempt to do it on the pad.

Hello Everyone, thank you for your answers.

I contacted the Cadence Support Team paralell and they gave me this Solution:

We have investigated the issue and found out new style flash symbols was disabled in the design.
To update the Geometry to Flash Symbol perform the following steps->
    1.Type Skill in Command Window.
    2. Type (axlDBControl 'newFlashMode t) in command and hit enter.
    3. Now, change the Gemoetry to Flash.

With this Method it worked fine.

I agree. Don't use flash symbols.
